Headline summary

Hedgehog sessions jumped 41% to 739, but the extra traffic looks lower quality: desktop Chrome sessions more than doubled (532 vs 242) while pages per session, scroll depth and active time all fell sharply, and form submits and outbound clicks slipped. Frustration signals improved (dead clicks down from 12.6% to 5.1%, quick backs down from 5.5% to 2.2%), but Largest Contentful Paint went from good (1.4s) to poor (4s). That pattern is worth checking for internal, automated or low-intent traffic before reading it as growth. Mechanic Marketing is very small (31 sessions, down 16%); dead clicks and quick backs rose slightly but on one or two sessions, and organic search recovered from 9 to 12 sessions.

Method

Assumptions

This was an unattended run. "This week" is Clarity's Last 7 days filter (20 to 26 October 2026; Clarity's clock is ahead of the run time, so the 26th is a partial day). "Last week" is a custom range of 13 to 19 October 2026. Only Dashboard views were read; no recordings or heatmaps were opened and no Copilot insights appeared. Clarity does not show tablet separately, so tablet sits inside "Other". Where a figure was not shown on screen it is marked "not captured" rather than estimated. Average active time is shown at Clarity's displayed precision (seconds this week, minutes last week), so its change is approximate. The previous report used overlapping windows and Clarity's bot filtering has since been re-applied, so the trend lines compare what each report published and are directional only.

Last week: instagram.com (110), hedgehogmarketing.com.au (81), facebook.com (71), www.google.com (70), m.facebook.com (29), l.facebook.com (22). Chrome was 517 sessions this week (70%) against 205 last week (39%); the Instagram app had 80 and the Facebook app 77 (113 and 101 last week). The top user had 11 sessions from Australia on a PC (18 last week). The dominant JavaScript error is the in-app browser message "error invoking postmessage: java object is gone" (64%), likely harmless Instagram or Facebook webview noise; the rest are "script error" and the Google API loader error (apis.google.com client.js, _ga callback).

Recommendations

  1. Check the source of the 532 PC sessions before celebrating. Open Clarity recordings filtered to PC, Chrome and the home page for 20 to 26 October, and compare with the 11-session Australian PC user and the 51 hedgehogmarketing.com.au self-referrals. Internal, testing or automated traffic would explain the jump alongside falling pages per session and active time. Consider an internal-traffic filter if so.
  2. Investigate the LCP regression (1.4s to 4s, poor). Run PageSpeed on the home page and /training, and check whether a new hero image, embed or script went live this week. The sample is only 25 pageviews, so confirm before acting.
  3. Test the contact form and submit confirmation on /contact. Submit form and Contact us events fell 17% while sessions rose 41%, and /contact views fell 22%. Confirm the event still fires and the form works on mobile.
  4. Review /success-stories and /about. Both fell by 65% or more even as the home page grew, which suggests the new traffic is not browsing deeper. Check the home page links to them are visible and working, and watch a few home page recordings for where people stop.

Recommendations

  1. Find out why mechanicmarketing-static.pages.dev is getting real sessions. It is a Cloudflare Pages staging address (2 sessions this week). Check it is not indexed, and add a canonical tag or redirect to mechanicmarketing.co.
  2. Watch the three dead-click sessions. With so few sessions it takes a couple of minutes and will show whether a button or card on /case-studies/ or /pricing looks clickable but is not.
  3. Confirm conversion events still fire. No smart events appeared this week against three the week before. Test /free-audit and the contact form end to end, and check the Book event.
  4. Keep an eye on organic search in Search Console. Organic recovered from 9 to 12 sessions and /blog/car-repair-advertising is holding at 4 sessions, so track it weekly rather than act on one week of data.

Data caveats

Mechanic Marketing had fewer than 100 sessions in both weeks, so every percentage is noisy and a one-session change can look like a large swing. Hedgehog's performance score uses only 25 and 26 pageviews, so LCP and INP comparisons are indicative. Device and channel session counts may not add exactly to the headline total because Clarity rounds and excludes some sessions. Clarity filters bot traffic (195 sessions this week and 260 last week for Hedgehog; 53 and 29 for Mechanic Marketing), so session counts will not match Google Analytics. The top pages lists show only the top 12 pages, so "not in top 12" does not mean zero. The date window overlaps the previous report, and the 20 to 26 October window includes a partial day.
